ADO BACKGROUND

About ADO

Area Development Organization (ADO) was established in 1998 as a local support organization in Muzaffarabad, AJ&K, and was officially registered with the government in 2000 under the Pakistan Societies Registration and Control Act of 1860. The organization was initially founded as part of the NJVCDP project, a collaboration between UNDP, IFAD, and the Government of AJ&K, implemented in Muzaffarabad.

In its early years, ADO focused its activities in the Union Council Kaimanja, District Muzaffarabad, primarily aiming to organize and mobilize local communities through the formation of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for both men and women. Over time, ADO has emerged as a leading organization in networking with Community Organizations (COs), Village Organizations (VOs), Local Support Organizations (LSOs), and clusters. It has taken significant initiatives for sustainable grassroots development across various sectors through participatory approaches.

ADO is certified by the Pakistan Center of Philanthropy (PCP), affirming its commitment to transparency and effective management in its operations.
